Welcome!

Welcome to the Daemon Productions Blog.
Here you will find updates, sneak peeks, and exclusive releases relevant to all of our current and future projects.

Our mission is to both promote and create narrative machinima series that contain complex characters, original plots, and thought-provoking themes. We believe that machinima is an art and a sub genre of Independent Film and should be treated as such.

'Manifest Destiny', 'Murphy's OnSet', 'Zantive', 'Halo Effect', 'Unexpected', and all other machinima series or individual videos listed below were created under Microsoft’s “Game Content Usage Rules” using assets from Halo 1 PC, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Wars, and Halo Reach © Microsoft Corporation.

'Zantive' Series Promo

A brief look into the story of 'Zantive', the new original drama series created by CrownedDaemon Productions in association with Jakya Studios.

Loosely based on actual events, 'Zantive' tells the story of a young, optimistic leader who tries to create a Utopian city. Slowly it begins to dissolve into chaos, until one man finally challenges the leader, turning the entire city into a battlefield.

Looking forward to this, because Junkie will be doing most of the filming, which has always been my weak spot.

Cancellation of Machinidubs

Hey, so the first ep of Machinidubs is up, but quite frankly it turned out poorly.

I have no idea what the hell happened to the audio, suffice to say: it's bad. Not a lot of people are enjoying the commentary. I'm going to message M.com and ask them to remove the video, and I don't intend on continuing Machinidubs.

And no, this isn't just me freaking out because people don't like it. Frankly, making these things is more work then I had originally thought. The whole point of this was so I could do something small on the side of my other series, but working through the second episode has been pretty difficult.

I mean, I was surprised. It did well on the premiere forums at M.com and the preview was well liked, but I guess those just weren't good indicators.

So there's the long and short of it. The audience doesn't like it, I don't like it, so I'm not going to make any more. Sorry for anyone who's disappointed or was looking forward to it, I feel bad about doing this but I don't want to make videos that people don't like and I certainly don't want to profit off of them.

Maybe I'll bring this back someday, but for now...farewell.

Murphy's OnSet Episode 4, and Manifest Destiny Episode 2 teasing

So Episode Four's finished, I sent that in to M.com today.

Episode Three's still not up yet, dunno what's up with that. Just be patient guys, it'll be up eventually.

I had my last final exam today, which means that I have about a month and a half of relative freedom. Which means Manifest Destiny Episode 2 will soon be done.

All the problems that were encountered in Episode 1 have been fixed. I've come a long ways in regards to video making since then.

Be ready everyone, the wait's almost over.

V.I.D. Sagan

A short video I made through the V.I.D. initiative (One Video, One Idea, One Day) that tells the story of a disillusioned naval officer who finds hope for the future in the works of Carl Sagan, the astronomer.

Eventually this'll end up on M.com's youtube, for now you can view it here.

The third episode of Murphy's OnSet should be coming out tomorrow, so keep your eyes open for that! Enjoy everyone!

Murphy's OnSet Episode 2 is up, Machinidubs: Resolute is finished

First order of business, the second episode of Murphy's OnSet is now up on M.com's youtube channel and can be viewed here.

Secondly, the first episode of Machinidubs is complete, and I'll be sending it in to M.com in the next few hours. Not sure when this one will be up, my guess is Monday of the week after next.

No preview images today guys, instead I'd like to take the time to mourn the passing of a fellow machinimator. Matt Ferrante, who went by the alias Fortyniner325, committed suicide yesterday. A small dedication piece will be included after the credits in the first episode of Machinidubs. I can only hope that, had he been alive to see it, he would have enjoyed watching it.

Murphy's OnSet Episode 3

Murphy's OnSet Episode 3 is done and was just sent in to M.com, expect it next Wednesday.

This episode introduces the series's titular character, Murphy, an amateur writer trying to make a name for himself in the machinima world. This episode will be a satire on the relative inexperience most machinima writers have both with writing and literature.

More to come as I finish up with finals (I'll even be able to finally start making Manifest Destiny episodes on a more regular basis, and wouldn't that be a treat!).

Machinidubs Preview

Hey guys, Daemon here! If you thought nothing awesome was going to happen until MOS 2 came out on Friday, then boy were you wrong, because I have an exciting new show to unveil!

CrownedDaemon Productions proudly presents...

Oh yeah. It'll be awesome.

Basically I'll be doing comedic dubs of popular machinima films a la Rifftrax, MST3K, Unskippable, etc. Here's a preview of the first episode (where I riff Euphoria Film's 'Resolute'), a kind of 'sneak peak' if you will.

Enjoy! Leave comments on anything you'd like to see changed.

Murphy's OnSet Episode 2, and Partner developments

Greetings comrades!

Below is a preview image of the next episode of Murphy's OnSet, which I sent in to Machinima.com yesterday (so it should be up by next Friday).

This episode focuses on developing the character of Tomas (voiced by me) and establishing him as the hammy actor of the studio. He's meant to parody all the atrocious acting you find in a lot of machinimas.

That's not the only thing going on in this episode, though. The episode itself is a parody of another video made by Com3back entitled 'Why God...Why?', which was based on an anti-suicide poem he had written. Click here to see his video.

So that covers that. I'll film episode 3 of Murphy's OnSet later today (more on that when I send it to M.com), and finish research for a short I might make...provided I finish the two papers I have to write for finals.

Now, on to the Youtube Partnership. It's going a bit rockier then I had expected, mainly because I'm not actually talking to anyone (at least it feels that way) so it's hard to negotiate a contract.

Right now, only one of my videos is up for revenue sharing, Paper Shredder Reviews: Twilight Sucks. This is fine, except that I don't own half the media on display there, so any attempt on my part to get revenue sharing on it will get the video removed, which is something I don't want to happen. I'm fine with not being paid as long as the video remains up. That said, I would be interested with starting up the series again using non-infringing content, but since I'm not a full partner that's not an option I have. Youtube has to elect my video for revenue sharing.

What does this mean? Well, mainly that it'll take a bit of time for the review series to start. Finals come first, but after those are done I have almost two months worth of time to do pretty much anything. Considering the popularity of the Twilight review, all I'd need to do is link any new ones I do to it and I should be able to have them elected for Revenue sharing is well.

So that's that, and this is this. Murphy's OnSet is going along great, expect slight delays on the new Paper Shredder Reviews.

Let's christen this mofo!

Hey, if you're reading this chances then chances are were just directed here from the Zantive Weekly Update. If you weren't, then here's some information to bring you up to speed.

Back on Monday (Nov. 30th) I was made a Youtube Partner because of my Twilight Sucks video in Paper Shredder Reviews. What this means is that in addition to getting paid for the videos I upload to Machinima.com's youtube channel, I can also get paid for videos I upload to my channel. This means that I'll have more control over uploading times and content on my channel then I do at M.com.

NOTE: I'm still a Director at M.com, that hasn't changed and won't anytime soon, the reason being that M.com is far less strict when it comes to uploading material then the Partnership program. I won't bore you with details, but suffice to say that the only two formats I'd be able to use for my paid youtube videos are live action and original animation, both of which I have little experience in.

'So why did you start up this blog if you were made a youtube partner'? Well, the way the Partnership program works is you are given an AdSense account, and when you link that account to a video then ads will display for it, and you get paid based on clicks for those ads. But the Adsense code isn't just limited to Youtube. I can put the Adsense code on pretty much any website I create, including this blog. That's right, I'm getting paid to write about whatever I want, including this tedious introduction. A writer's dream come true...except for the tedious part.

'So why should I care about this blog?' Well, because in addition to behind-the-scenes information on all the videos I make (both M.com and on my channel), you'll find exclusive information here, including FAQ and my thoughts on current issues involving writing in the Machinima community. That and any updates or new developments for either channel will be posted here.

That about covers it. Stay tuned for more updates!
